NanoMath::A Very, Very, Very Small Blog About Math

I am a computing/math instructor at Scottsdale Community College located in Scottsdale, Arizona. I created this blog thinking I'd use it to blog about math, but I haven't gotten around to taking this blog seriously. 3Q'02012 is ending today and I'm thinking about bringing this blog--which had 16 postings on 30 September 02012-- to life.

Kudos to Sarah Baird

The MathBabbler extends a "Kudos" to Sarah Baird for being named the 2009 Arizona Teacher of the Year. The Arizona Republic reported that Baird is a "math coach" at Kyrene de las Lomas and Kyrene del Melino in Ahwatukee Foothills. Baird teaches math to K-5 students. The Republic quoted Baird saying the following.

"I am on a mission to change the feeling of math from the
negative. We love it! It's fun! And kids, when I walk down
the hall, will yell, 'I love math!'" -- Sarah Baird

The Tucson Citizen quoted Phyllis Fassio, Baird's former math teacher at Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, saying the following about Baird.

"They call her 'the math girl' and they have so much fun with her
they don't even know they're learning math." -- Phyllis Fassio

Again, Kudos to Sarah Baird!
